ROVIN' AND RAVIN' WITH MIKE Copyright © 2002 by Michael Segers, Brought to you by Peanut.org The R & R Film Reviews - 1999-2002Rovin' and Ravin' was first conceived as a series of online film reviews and began in 1999 as a series of two articles a week, one film review, and one article on any topic that had links on the Internet. In early 2002, however, the film reviews came to an end. Here on one page is a link by title to all the films reviewed over those three years. Most of them are films that appeared during that time, but there are also looks backward to such classics as High Noon. The reviews are my honest response to the films, and honestly, they come across rather eccentric. I still do not understand the appeal of American Beauty and I still appreciate For Love of the Game. I also appreciate such quirky jewels as George Washington. I never felt during my tenure as film critic that I was in the business of labeling films as good or bad. In fact, I mainly wanted to muddy the view of the films, maybe focus on what works and what does not work. In short, I was functioning as a teacher and at the same time as a student. Every year, I did identify my ten favorites of the year and presented them with The Golden Goobers. Those films are identified on this list with an asterisk (*). Some guest columnists and I also wrote articles about film that were not reviews (I never trusted a guest to review a film). As a good student and teacher, I also collected a list of useful online resources.
